Mini Ghosts Pottery Workshop - Handbuilding Workshop (Sunday)

$70.00

Overview

Date: Sunday, October 4 • 2-4pm

Location: Rooted 1010 N 12th Ave., Room 238

Workshop: 2 hours

Investment: $70 per person

Come make a pair of little ghosts of your very own.

Join us at Rooted for a hands-on pottery workshop where you’ll create two ceramic mini ghosts. We’ll build each ghost by hand using slabs of white clay, then decorate them with underglaze (paint) to give each one its own personality.

No pottery experience needed. I’ll guide you through the process step-by-step, with plenty of room to make your ghosts as sweet, spooky, silly, or simple as you’d like.

Come with a pair of ghosts in mind or figure out their personalities as you go. Either way you’ll leave having made two little characters entirely your own.

What you’ll make and learn

  • Shape and build two mini ceramic ghosts

  • Learn the basics of slab handbuilding

  • Add faces and other clay details

  • Decorate your ghosts using colorful underglazes

What’s Included

Your ticket includes all clay, tools, materials, instruction, underglazes, clear glazing, and kiln firing. Just come ready to make something!

After the Workshop

Your ghosts will stay with me to dry slowly before being fired in the kiln, finished with a clear glaze, and fired once more.

Finished pieces will be ready for pickup at Rooted approximately 3-5 weeks after the workshop, you’ll receive an email when yours is ready.

Ages

This workshop is open to ages 12 and up. Participants ages 12-17 must attend with a participating adult who has also purchase a workshop ticket.

Good to Know

Please wear something you don’t mind getting a little clay on. Clay washes easily out of most clothing.

Part of the beauty of pottery is its unpredictability. Variations, imperfections, and occasionally even cracks can happen during the drying and firing. It’s all part of working with clay, and something to embrace in the handmade process.

Workshop ticket sales are final and non-refundable.

By attending or participating in any Rooted by Erika Ceramics class, event, or studio activity, you acknowledge and consent to being photographed or recorded for documentation and promotional purposes by the studio.
