Workshop: 2 hours

Investment: $70 per person

A little dish for all your favorite snacks!

Join us at Rooted for a hands-on pottery workshop where you’ll create your very own ceramic snack dish using the pinch pot method. Perfect for olives, nuts, dips, and all the little things you love to nibble on!

We’ll work with speckled brown clay, using the pinch pot method to pinch, shape, and join them together to create a one-of-a-kind dish. Make a trio of little bowls joined together, add a tiny compartment for olive pits, or create a handle for easy carrying. You can even carve designs and textures into the clay to make it entirely your own, then choose how you’d like your piece glazed. Choice of white, green, blue, or pink glaze.

No pottery experience needed. I'll guide you through the process step by step, from shaping and joining your clay to adding the finishing details that make your dish both functional and uniquely yours.

What you’ll make and learn

  • Create your own ceramic snack dish using the pinch pot method

  • Learn how to shape and join clay to create different compartments

  • Experiment with handles, carved designs, and textures

  • Choose your glaze color from pink, white, blue, or green

What’s Included

Your ticket includes all clay, tools, materials, instruction, glazing, and kiln firing. Just come ready to make something!

After the Workshop

Your piece will stay with me to dry slowly before being fired in the kiln, finished with glaze, and fired once more.

Finished pieces will be ready for pickup at Rooted approximately 3-5 weeks after the workshop. You’ll receive an email when yours is ready.

Once finished and fired, your piece will be food safe, dishwasher safe, and microwave safe.

Ages

This workshop is open to ages 12 and up. Participants ages 12-17 must attend with a participating adult who has also purchased a workshop ticket.

Good to Know

You may want to wear something you don’t mind getting a little clay on. Clay washes easily out of most clothing but just in case!

Part of the beauty of pottery is its unpredictability. Variations, imperfections, and occasionally even cracks can happen during the drying and firing. It’s all part of working with clay, and something to embrace in the handmade process.

Workshop ticket sales are final and non-refundable.

By attending or participating in any Rooted by Erika Ceramics class, event, or studio activity, you acknowledge and consent to being photographed or recorded for documentation and promotional purposes by the studio.
