Overview
Date: Thursday, October 22 • 6-8pm
Location: Rooted 1010 N 12th Ave., Room 238
Workshop: 2 hours
Investment: $70 per person
This workshop is for anyone who knows the cup is just as important as whats in it.
Join us at Rooted for a hands-on pottery workshop where you’ll create your own espresso cup + saucer. We’ll work with speckled brown clay, using the pinch pot method to form your espresso cup and slab of clay to shape its coordinating saucer.
This workshop is all about making something by hand for a part of your day you already enjoy. You’ll shape and refine both pieces, add your own details, then choose how you’d like your finished set glazed. Choice of white, green, blue, or pink glaze.
No pottery experience needed. I’ll guide you through each step from forming your cup to shaping the saucer.
What you’ll make and learn
Make a pinch pot espresso cup
Form a coordinating saucer.
Choose the glaze for your finished set
What’s Included
Your ticket includes all clay, tools, materials, instruction, glazing, and kiln firing. Just come ready to make something!
After the Workshop
Your mug will stay with me to dry slowly before being fired in the kiln, finished with glaze, and fired once more.
Finished pieces will be ready for pickup at Rooted approximately 3-5 weeks after the workshop. You’ll receive an email when yours is ready.
Once finished and fired, your piece will be food safe, dishwasher safe, and microwave safe.
Ages
This workshop is open to ages 12 and up. Participants ages 12-17 must attend with a participating adult who has also purchased a workshop ticket.
Good to Know
You may want to wear something you don’t mind getting a little clay on. Clay washes easily out of most clothing but just in case!
Part of the beauty of pottery is its unpredictability. Variations, imperfections, and occasionally even cracks can happen during the drying and firing. It’s all part of working with clay, and something to embrace in the handmade process.
Workshop ticket sales are final and non-refundable.
By attending or participating in any Rooted by Erika Ceramics class, event, or studio activity, you acknowledge and consent to being photographed or recorded for documentation and promotional purposes by the studio.
